Points Table Rules
The RLN Premiership is an 11 team competition with 5 teams in a Northern Pool and 6 teams in a Southern Pool.
a) There will be two rounds of pool play (10 weeks)
b) And one cross-over round with each team playing each team in the other pool (6 weeks)
c) All games and results will go towards one points table (North and South combined)
d) The finals will be the Top 6. The top 2 from the North and South Zone are guaranteed to qualify. Although guaranteed to quality, their final ranking in the points table will stand. The next 2 qualifiers will be decided from the next highest ranked placing:
i. The top 2 qualifiers will qualify automatically for the semi-finals
ii. Rank 3 will play Rank 6 in one semi-final qualifier and Rank 4 will play Rank 5 in the other semi-final qualifier. With the winners to play 1 and 2 in the semi-finals.
If at the completion of the pool play, two (2) or more teams are equal on match points, the following criteria in order shall apply:
a) Points differential will apply – that is, the team that has the highest difference of points for minus points against, will be the higher ranked.
b) If teams are still tied, then points differential percentage will apply – that is, points for divided by points against x 100. The team with the higher percentage will be the higher ranked team.
c) If teams are still tied after point differential percentage, then the team that won the match pool play between the even teams, is declared to finish higher.
d) In the event of a draw in pool play, then the team that has scored the most accumulated points during pool play, will be deemed to be the highest placed team.
e) In the event of team still tied, then a toss of the coin will determine the winner.
