Northern Swords 17s Remain Top of Table

IMG_9068 IMG_9099 IMG_9250 The Swords 17s, 44 – 28 win over the Central Vipers, see the Swords remain on top of the table after four rounds with three wins and a BYE.  The Swords were dominant on attack throughout the match.  On the back of a strong forward pack, the outside backs were superb, with the entire back line, with exception of playmaker Daniel Fulop, scoring tries.

Coach Benson Selwyn was happy with the win, but apprehensive about the amount of tries scored by the Vipers.  “We have to control our defense better if we are to compete with the likes of Counties and Akarana.” Selwyn said.  The Swords have a tough finish to the competition with Counties, Wellington, then Akarana.  There is no semi-final, the top two go straight to the final so the Swords will need to win a minimum of two of the last games, to qualify for the final.

The Swords next game is against Counties Manakau on 29th September. The  17s KO 1.00pm and the  Premiers KO is 2.30pm
