Scott Electrical Premiership Starts this weekend!

A new season and a new sponsor! RLN is pleased to welcome on board Scott Electrical as the new naming rights sponsor for the RLN Scott Electrical Premiership – Northlands premier Rugby League competition. Scott Electrical were a driving force behind the creation of the Trade of Origin in 2014 that saw a three match series between the Sparkies and Chippies. Owner John Cornwell, is a self confessed Leaguey, and as such, Scott Electrical are a platinum sponsor of the Vodafone Warriors and have also been the main sponsor of Howick Hornets in Auckland for the past 6 years.

Aaron Thomas – RLN’s New Development Manager

RLN would like to welcome Aaron Thomas to RLN Whanau. Aaron will officially start his job on the 8th of April. Aaron has an impressive CV with a background in education and sport. He is currently the Deputy Principal at Opononi Area School, where he is also joint coach of the Kura Hokianga team that has just qualified for the Semi-Finals of the NorthTec Adam Blair Trophy.

It’s Business Time for the NorthTec Adam Blair Trophy

The 11 team competition has seen some exciting football. The Northern Pool has been unreal, with Northland College having three draws out of their 5 games which shows how close the competition has been. For Whangaroa, Brothers and Tikipunga their journey has come to end. We thank them for their efforts. For the rest of the teams, it’s Semi Final time. The draw format sees the Top two from North and South playing in the semis for the NorthTec Adam Blair Trophy, while 3rd and 4th playoff for the Plate Division the Northern Swords Shield. Both finals and the 3rd and 4th playoff are at Central Ground, in Kaikohe on April the 2nd.

Warriors Academy to play NorthTec Adam Blair Representative XIII

The match against the Warriors Academy has become an annual highlight on the RLN Calendar, 2015 will be the third time it is played. The game will be part of a Rugby League Northland extravaganza of League with two RLN Premiership games being played on the same day at Central Rugby Ground – Lindvart Park in Kaikohe. For the hopeful College players it’s a great opportunity to gauge their skills against future Warriors players.

2015 RLN Referees – Thank you!

RLN extends a big thank you to all of our Referees who have already been working hard to promote and grown our game. Over the last five weeks we have been able to provide referees to all of our NorthTec Adam Blair Trophy Games. We welcome back our existing referees: Tane Kaiwai, Daryl Irving (Red), Morgan Everitt, Alex Smits, Jodie Thorpe and Les Howe. While we welcome on board our new referees for the 2015 season: Joseph Benioni, Jimmy Dunn and Nick Waihi.

2015 RLN Scott Electrical Premiership – SEASON OPENER

The 2015 RLN Scott Electrical Premiership is hosting a Triple Header on Saturday 28th March, Lindvart Park, Kaikohe. Featuring Kerikeri Makos v Muriwhenua Falcons KO 1:30pm, Adam Blair XIII v Warriors Academy KO 3:00pm, Hokianga Pioneers v Moerewa Tigers 4:30pm.

NorthTec Adam Blair XIII Squad Announced for match against the Warriors

Over 50 College hopefuls attended Bay of Islands College on Sunday, to trial for the NorthTec Adam Blair XIII. In a day that the heavens threatened to open up, there was some heavenly Rugby League played. Considering the players had never played with each other, the quality of Rugby League on show gave Coach Jim Larkin some difficult choices.

Judicial Officers Required

RLN is seeking people to join their judicial panel for the 2015 season. Rugby League Northland is committed to fair play and a playing environment that is safe and fun to participate in. As part of this process RLN has formed an independent judicial committee that is delegated to oversee and rule on judicial matters such as players discipline and rulings regarding the rules and regulations of competitions. The panel is Chaired by independent Queens Counsel and you will join a team of up to 5 members.
