Rugby League Northland’s Joe Rau has been been running a Leadership Through League programme as a way of introducing league to kids at a young age, as well as giving senior students the opportunity to learn about leadership. Call Out to Youth

Aged 12-17 to attend a development day run by New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) and Whangarei District Council.  The aim is to develop leadership and values of local youth through a fun and engaging way.

14:40-15:20pm       Partner engagement: NZDF, Police, Fire Service and North Tec (10mins each for agencies to talk to their purpose and key messages)

15:25-15:55pm        Physical activities (on the field, 10m either side of halfway, side line and dead ball area)

It’s great to see Kiwi 732 Adam Blair, re-finding his form and leading from the Kiwis pack from the front again. Adam Blair is an ex-Student from Whangarei Boys High School and will make a guest appearance at the Sport Northland College Sports Awards on Thursday night to present a number of awards including the Rugby League Player College Player of the year!A true blue Northlander – click here to see what is means to Adam to again represent the Kiwis, where he grew up and how he got into League.

Re:                         Notice of Constitutional Meeting

In accordance with the Rugby League Northland Zone Constitution rule 15.3 – Notice of Constitutional Change, the Board formally advises that a Constitutional Meeting will be held as follows:

Date:     26 March 2018

Venue: ASB Northland Sports House

97 Western Hills Drive, Whangarei

Commencing:    Following the Annual Meeting (AGM commences at 6.30pm)

  1. Purpose of Constitutional Meeting

The purpose of the Constitutional Meeting is to consider and vote on adopting the following amendments to the current Rugby League Northland Zone Constitution. The amendments are in bold italics.

Amendment 1

The Zone wishes to change its financial year end to be aligned to New Zealand Rugby League. The current Zone financial year end is 31 December and it wishes to change to 31 March.

Proposed Resolution:

The current clause 24.2 would be amended to read:

24.2        Financial Year:  The financial year of the Zone will commence on 1 April and end on the following 31 March.

The change in financial year will mean that when effective, the first financial year will be for a fifteen month period (1 January 2018 to 31 March 2019), before reverting back to a twelve month financial year.

Amendment 2

The close off date for Life Member nominations is tied to the financial year end. Therefore the date needs to be changed from 31 December to 31 March

Proposed Resolution

10.2        Nominations:  Nominations for election as a Life Member must be made in writing by a Member, signed by the chairperson/secretary of the nominating Member, and received at the offices of the Zone by no later than 31 March preceding an Annual Meeting.

Amendment 3

The date for holding an Annual Meeting be extended from three to four months.

13.1        Annual Meetings:  The Zone must hold Annual Meetings of the Members once in each calendar year on a date to be fixed by the Board and which is within four (4) months of the end of each financial year of the Zone.
