Kamo High School stamp dominance on competition post thumbnail image

Kamo High School proved they are serious title contenders with a dominant performance over Dargaville High School in yesterday’s round three of the Adam Blair competition. What was considered to be the match of the round, turned into a show of power and strength by a more experienced and well-built team. Dargaville High School were under strength in the forward pack, with two key players out due to other commitments, which had a noticeable impact on the smaller and inexperienced team. Kamo High School’s forwards dominated the middle and showed their power with great runs that set up their team for scoring opportunities. Kamo went on to win 34-4. Next week will be a pivotal game for Kamo High School when they take on defending champs Whangarei Boys High School in what will be top of the table clash for the South zone, whilst Dargaville High School will take on impressive newcomer Te Kapehu Whetu in Dargaville.

In other games, Bream Bay and Bay of Islands went head to head with Bay College proving too strong in a close encounter winning 32-20. Whangarei Boys High proved their dominance in the competition beating Tikipunga 38-6.

In the North competition there were some close and well contested games. Whangaroa College were gallant in victory beating Okaihau College 32-20 and Northland College giving TKKM/Taipa their first loss to remain contenders of the title winning 28-10. Kaitaia College and Te Kapehu Whetu had the byes this week.

NorthTec Adam Blair XIII Secondary School Rep Team vs Warriors Development Squad

Some amazing talent was on display at the trials over the weekend and the spirit that the game was played in was a credit to all the boys.  One thing to note is that every school has representation in the squad, this demonstrates the quality of all teams in this year’s NorthTec Adam Blair Trophy.

Good luck to the players who have been selected (listed below) to play against the Warriors Development Squad (coached by Stacey Jones) at the RLN Premiership Season Launch on Saturday 30th March – Kick off is at 1.00pm.
